South Africa:

On Aug 16th, I left Las Vegas for South Africa, went from Las Vegas to Washington Dulles air port, then from Washington to Dakar then for refueling, then on to Oliver Tambo air port in Johannesburg. Changed planes then on to Cape. Town. My sisters Cathy and Louise picked me up from the air port and on to Louise's flat in. Century City. That the next day we went to the Mall, very impressed. Got a sim card for my iPad, my phone would not work, thanks to Verizon's who has coverage everywhere, but South Africa. The next day was the 17th and exciting, we were going to meet Margaret, my biological sister I had never met, after a very emotional meeting and some crying, we felt like we had known each other for years. After all the excitement we all jumped in the car, Louise, Cathy, Margaret and myself and headed for Hermanus which is in the southern Cape. We stayed in a beach house, felt like a little school girl again. Louise and Cathy shared the main house and Margaret and I shared a little cottage, we stayed up until 3:00am in the morning catching up on our lives and families. The next day we went to Cape Agulhas, which is the Southern most tip of Africa, I do not have words to describe the beauty. Then on to Betty's Bay to see the Penguin's. Hermanus is a nursery where whales come to give birth to their calf, we got to see a couple of whales, they had a man standing on the beach on a box and every time a whale would blow, he would blow this horn made out of sea weed, he called himself the Whale Blower. It was a fun and exciting weekend, but we had to get back for Margaret had to go back to work. These are some of the places we have been to, Simon's Town, Fish Hoek, Hout Bay where we ate the best fish and chips I have ever had. Stellenbosh to see the Huguenots Memorial, they came over fro France, which is part of my heritage on my moms side, the Fourie's. On Aug 29th, I met the rest of the family, it was really a lovely day, Louise had arranged for a family dinner, it turned out to be a four course meal and delicious. I will continue with the rest of the story later.
