LIFE CHANGING EVENT:
It is so easy to forget that life can change so quickly, just one e.mail can alter your life forever.January, 2003 I filled out papers with an Adoption Reunions (South Africa), trying to find my biological sister and brother, I knew their names and the dates around the time they were born, I was the oldest out of the three of us(in the middle) My story is sort of complicated, I have half brother's and sister's that I have found through out the years and we have been in contact and visited each other. But I knew I had a full brother and sister, same mother, same father. My uncle had adopted me and raised me when I was around 15 months old, he was my biological mothers brother.
Well to make this long and complicated story short, I received an e.mail from the Adoption Reunions (South Africa) on July 14, 2011 7:32am. Mr. Jack Kotze (who runs the agency) telling me that they have a lady that was adopted and had the names I had given him. Please send him all my contact details.
I sent him all my information, everything seemed to match up, I e.mailed (tons of e.mail going on) my sister Catherine who lives in Benoni, South Africa. We were a little worried that may be this was not what it seemed to be. Catherine set up an appointment to talk to the Lady, who's name was Margaret (Adopted) name. After Catherine had talked with her for 45 min, Catherine had a feeling that she was my biological sister. Her e.mail was sent to me and I had contact with her daughter Wendyann, who just is so sweet. Well as it turns out, she is definitely my biological sister. Our mother's genes are very strong and all of us sisters do have some same features that our mother had and oh my goodness Margaret just fits right in.
I ask myself, why now after 60 years we find each other?
When you are adopted and you know you are adopted, you have a very empty feeling that something is missing, Margaret's daughter said, her mom was told around the age of 8, about the same time I was told and she had been very sad, wanting to know who her family was. I am in the process of getting my paper work together and some money, so that I can meet Margaret. This has been a life changing event for me and my other sister's Louise and Catherine and we hope and pray that we can have a reunion soon in Cape Town, South Africa.
